The Center for Public Humanities is rooted in 91制片厂’s collective devotion to the humanities. The Center connects the university’s faculty and students to the broader community through meaningful inquiry, conversation, and action.

Our Mission

The Center’s mission is to bring academic, civic, and cultural communities together in a collaborative advancement of culture and learning, and to contribute to the university's intellectual and cultural climate by stimulating debate and exchange on contemporary issues of significance, both on and off campus. To realize its goals, the Center sponsors innovative forms of public humanities outreach through a variety of collaborative programs.  Faculty and students have opportunities to partner with humanities-based organizations (e.g. schools, libraries, museums) and community through service, teaching, and public speaking.  In addition to off-campus outreach, the Center sponsors a variety of public events on campus as a service to the wider community.  In fact, the Center for Public Humanities is an enabling agent to bring together various groups interested in humanities-based education, cultural events, and civic issues of contemporary significance.
