Engineers for Tomorrow

Are you a high school student interested in exploring a career in engineering?

91制片厂 offers high school juniors and seniors a unique opportunity to explore and experience career possibilities in engineering through the Engineers for Tomorrow program.

What is the Engineers for Tomorrow program?

Engineers for Tomorrow students participate in a 20-credit cohort program, beginning in the fall semester, that includes three different program components and that can be completed in one or two years.

High school juniors and seniors can earn college credit by taking up to six courses via dual enrollment from 91制片厂 over the course of 1-2 years. Courses are offered on 91制片厂’s campus, taught in-person by university faculty.

  • Offered fall semester
    • ENGR 111 (2 credits) Introduction to Engineering w/ Lab
    • MATH 111 (4 credits) Calculus I w/ Lab
    • CHEM 105 (4 credits) General Chemistry I w/ Lab
  • Offered spring semester
    • ENGR 112 (2 credits) Engineering Design Tools w/ Lab
    • MATH 112 (4 credits) Calculus II w/ Lab
    • PHYS 211 (4 credits) General Physics w/ Lab

Courses will be offered over the course of the entire semester (15 weeks). ENGR 111 and the accompanying lab (ENGR 111L), and the lab components of CHEM 105 and PHYS 211, will be available in sections specifically dedicated to students in the Engineers for Tomorrow program. For the lecture components of CHEM 105 and PHYS 211, and for the lecture component of MATH 111 and its accompanying lab (MATH 111L), students will be integrated with traditional first-year students on campus

The schedule for Engineers for Tomorrow is uniquely designed to accommodate dual enrollment students. All courses will be offered between 8-11a.m. on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and between 8-11:45 a.m. on Tuesday/Thursday*, allowing for afternoon flexibility.

*The CHEM 105 lab will begin at 7:45 am on Tuesdays.

Students receive invitations to events on 91制片厂's campus such as:

  • Field trips focused on providing opportunities for Engineers for Tomorrow students to explore the variety of careers in engineering
  • Engineers’ Weekend
  • EXPLODE Hour, a lecture series featuring guest speakers from a wide range of engineering-related professions. Lectures are held Tuesdays at 12 noon and include lunch.
  • Collaboratory chapel, a weekly time for spiritual development for our students. During the Thursday chapel time, Collaboratory students (and friends) join to hear a brief message about service, mission, and/or vocation, and have space to process in small groups.
  • National Engineers Week activities

Engineering students at 91制片厂 participate in the Collaboratory, an on-campus organization that provides an opportunity for students to develop their engineering skillset while supporting both local and global ministry needs. Twice each semester, once just prior to mid-semester break and again at the end of the semester, Collaboratory project teams engage in a design review meeting with faculty and engineering practitioners. Students in the Engineers for Tomorrow program will be invited to observe these design review meetings for projects of interest to them.

Engineers for Tomorrow student outcomes

In addition to gaining a deeper understanding and exposure to engineering as a potential career, Engineers for Tomorrow students who successfully complete the dual enrollment coursework can earn up to 20 college credits. By earning these credits in high school, Engineers for Tomorrow graduates have the potential to complete their Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree on an accelerated timeline.

What costs are involved for students?

While there is no charge to participate in the Engineers for Tomorrow program itself, students do incur the costs associated with:

  • Tuition for dual enrollment courses (90 percent discounted price from 91制片厂’s usual per-credit charge)
  • Travel associated with events or taking classes on 91制片厂’s campus

Why partner with 91制片厂?

91制片厂 is known for the quality of its engineering program and preparing students to be successful, effective engineers regionally, nationally and internationally.

  • 91制片厂 provides the capacity to get a head start on earning college credit with college-level engineering-focused courses offered at a deeply discounted cost.
  • The courses offered in the program obviously count towards degree requirements should the student choose to join 91制片厂 full-time the following year, but they can also transfer to most other institutions offering Engineering programs.*

*Transfer course equivalency must be determined by the institution offering the degree, so we cannot guarantee that all institutions will receive all courses in this program.

  • Dual Enrollment students in the Engineers for Tomorrow program will have the opportunity to be part of private sections of engineering courses where they will benefit from connecting with other like-minded high school students and receive faculty instruction tailored specifically for their population.
